Debating
A debate is a discussion where different arguments about an issue are presented. A debate can be also defined as a competition where a theme or question is introduced and the participants must take turns stating their opinions and then the best argument wins. A team can be either for or against an issue.

During a debate
Here are some features and tips to help you debate successfully:
- Introduce the topic.
- Make eye contact and speak with confidence.
- Evidence facts to prove your point of view.
- Organise your arguments in advance.
- Be clear and precise.
- Use repetition, formal language, and rhetorical questions.
- Finish with a strong conclusion.
Tip: Phrases such as 'I agree', 'I disagree', 'on the other hand', 'however' and 'in my opinion' can be very useful when debating.
