Saber hablar de ti mismo es un paso muy importante para empezar a comunicarte oralmente en inglés. En este resumen se recogen los aspectos básicos que debe tener una presentación personal.


Info 1: Basic questions

Antes de comenzar a hablar, piensa qué información sobre ti debe saber la gente que no te conoce. Empieza con los datos más básicos: tu nombre, edad, a qué te dedicas y dónde vives.


  Ejemplo

My name is David Green and I am thirteen years old. I study at Queen Victoria High School. I was born in Madrid, but now I live in Liverpool with my family.


Info 2: Adding details

Una vez comentado lo más esencial, puedes aportar detalles sobre cómo eres. Por ejemplo, si eres una persona tranquila o alegre. Comenta tus gustos, tus cosas preferidas o las que detestas. También puedes hablar de tus aficiones y desde cuándo las practicas. Existen varias expresiones para indicar los intereses y hobbies:

  Ejemplo

My favourite animal is the dog, although I hate cats because I am allergic. I enjoy playing tennis and I am good at surfing. I have been doing it since I was six years old. I think that I am a very active person. 


Info 3: Meeting someone new

Si te presentan a alguien nuevo, puedes dar tu nombre y un pequeño dato sobre ti. Recuerda mostrar educación con la expresión pleased to meet you (es un placer conocerte) o nice to meet you si se trata de un contexto más informal.

Hello, my name is Sara, I am a new French student. Nice to meet you!


Truco: Si alguien te dice Nice to meet you!, puedes responder con un You too! (igualmente), que es la abreviatura de Nice to meet you too!. Es un error muy común decir Me too!.
