Electrical appliances are any devices which use electricity to work. There are lots of electrical appliances which are used everyday, including the one to access this website. 


Example

The two main types of appliances are ones that need to be plugged in and ones which are battery powered.

​Plug in appliances include things like desktop computers, fridges, cookers and televisions. These devices need to be plugged into the electricity sockets in order to work. 

Battery powered appliances

Battery powered appliances include things like mobile phones, electric cars and laptops. Battery operated appliances do not need to be plugged in whilst being used. This makes them portable.
