Times tables up to 12 x 12
In a nutshell
Many multiplication and division calculations involve the times tables up to 12×12. Knowing them off by heart makes them much easier and quicker to solve.
12 x 12 table
This table shows all of the timetables up to 12×12. To read the table, look along the top row for the number being multiplied and place one finger there. Then, look along the first column for the number you are multiplying by and place another finger there. Finally, move your fingers down and across until they meet.
Tip: Practise your times tables every day and soon you'll have no trouble remembering the table!
Division using 12 x 12 times table
The 12×12 table can also be used to work out division calculations.
Example
What is 28÷4?
28Read along the 4 row and find 28.
Read up to find what is multiplied by 4 to get 28.
7×4=28
Therefore, 28÷4=7.
